On December 15, 2013, freelance writer & organizer Suey Parker started a movement on Twitter with her hashtag: #NotYourAsianSidekick. It ignited discussions about the Asian American community, from media representation to social justice issues.

To further the conversation in an effort to make real change happen, Parker teamed up with 18MillionRising to “deepen the analysis, and elevate the vision of what #NotYourAsianSidekick is and can be,” according to the NotYourAsianSidekick’s website.

The first Google Hangout premieres on January 16, 2014 at 10am PST/1pm EST. More details can be found at Angry Asian Man.

If you wanna join the livestream discussion, don’t forget to RSPV at NotYourAsianSideKick!
